AII@海角社区 is a campus and community wide AI literacy initiative to strengthen curricular and co-curricular integration of artificial intelligence throughout all fields of study at 海角社区 as well as to inform and provide a platform for discussion about AI and its integration in society.
The aim of AII@海角社区 are to support 海角社区 faculty to educate students and to contribute to research to address the societal transformations generated by artificial intelligence in everyday life. Because of the emerging and defining role of AI in contemporary society which leaves individuals vulnerable to social and economic consequences of transformative technologies, participation from faculty from all disciplines across campus is essential to collectively decide how this technology will be addressed through teaching, learning and research.
AII@海角社区 has six goals:
The intended impacts of this project include enhancing the ability of 海角社区 to produce graduates who have the capability to understand and skillfully engage with AI in their careers and to participate meaningfully in society, guiding it as it is being transformed by AI. This initiative will also allow a space for broader community dialog about AI in society. 海角社区's Center for Teaching and Research Excellence is a partner on this project.
There will be three online public presentations in Fall 2025 and three public presentations (TBA) in Spring 2026. Everyone (students, faculty, staff and community members) is invited to attend these presentations.
Please register to attend the fall presentations (Nov. 12th, Nov. 19th and Dec. 3rd) at the CINSER Webinars page.
AII@海角社区 is supported by funding from which is a capacity-building project funded by the National Science Foundation that was designed to respond to the emerging need for higher education to assume a significant role in the management of the spread and use of artificial intelligence (AI) in societyAI@PBI is implemented through the AII@海角社区 initiative.
